I was not able to find very much information about ice out and current lake temperatures for Lake George.  I did find a web-cam that I was able to watch the ice recede from.  You can take a look at the webcam mounted on top of the Shoreline Restaurant. Here is the link at Capital News 9 that also has the weather;

Lake George -

These are my observations

2008

Iced-out on April 8th, 2008 (second-hand information).

Water temperature on April 16th, 2008 was 43 degrees, measured at the end of the brook between the million dollar beach and the steel pier.

Water temperature on April 20th, 2008 was 48-49 degrees, measured at the end of the brook between the million dollar beach and the steel pier.  This time I was not wading so the reading was taken right at the edge in 4 - 6 inches of water.  Weather has been very warm, with temps in the 70's for several days.

Water temperature on April 27th, 2008 was 44 degrees, measured at the end of the brook east of the million dollar beach.  Evidently the April 20th reading was effected by the shallow water, warm weather and/or failure to allow the temperature reading to stabilize.

Water temperature on October 13th, 2008 was 64 degrees, measured at the end of the brook east of the million dollar beach.  Hooked into what I think was a large Brown Trout, but another fisherman cautioned me that it was likely a Land-Locked Salmon, and that they looked very similar.  Exciting, but I failed to land him!  A local tackle shop advised that it was about 2 weeks early for the Trout/Salmon to be in the shallows.

Jabe Pond

As of April 10, 2008, the DEC website indicates that the gate is closed on the road in to the pond.
