Stratton Mountain Scout Reservation

Owned by the Fort Orange Council, and later the Fort Orange - Uncle Sam and Governor Clinton Councils, the camp was open from 1950-1979.  It was sold to the US government in 1979 and remains open to the public as the Grout Pond Recreational Area, and is a wonderful place to visit.

I spent a week at summer camp there in 1971, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976 & 1977.  I visited in 1978, but did not attend summer camp.  I was tapped out into the Order of the Arrow at SMSR in the summer of 1974.  I also attended 1 or 2 "Freeze-Outs" at Stratton during each of those winters, staying in Mahikan Lodge.

I also have some Super 8 movies (silent) that I have digitized.  These movies show Stratton in both the summer and winter
