Camp Van Buren

Camp Van Buren was located on the shores of Knickerbocker Lake in Columbia County, not to be confused with Camp Hawley which was on Kinderhook Lake, a few miles away.  Camp Van Buren was owned by the Hudson Council which comprised Columbia County.  Camp Hawley was owned by the Fort Orange Council of Albany County.  I don't know too much more about Camp Van Buren.  If you have any information, please pass it on.

Please Note: Fort Orange Council also included Troop 53 in Castleton, Rensselaer Co.

These patches were on the back of a merit badge sash that reportedly belonged to Andy Santana for Troop 14 (now Troop 114) of Valatie, NY.  The sash included 15 merit badges and rank insignia up to Life.  Also on the sash were patches from the 1939 and 1940 World's Fair, and a Safety Patrol pin for the World's Fair.
